MACODEP
Makina Community Development Project
MACODEP is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO) that runs a medical clinic and Children’s Home and Centre located in Nairobi, Kenya.
HEALTHCARE
OUR EFFORTS IN GIVING HOPE TO KIBRA RESIDENTS
The main goals of MACODEP are to offer health care and other related services to the less fortunate members of society. The organization is focused on improving the capacity of disadvantaged members of the Kibra slums through the provision of health care services, HIV/Aids intervention, environmental sanitation, and above all, economic empowerment.

The Children's Home & Centre
The children in MACODEP’s Children’s home come from various backgrounds; some do not have a safe or positive relationship with their primary care giver, some have been dispossessed of property and disinherited, and others have lost family to violence and illness.
The World's 2nd Largest Slum
Kibra is thought to be the largest slum in East Africa and the second largest slum in all of Africa (after Soweto, South Africa).
Throughout the developing world, the impoverished are moving from rural areas into the city in the hopes of finding more work, food, and peace.
Got Osimbo Project
To better provide for the orphaned and vulnerable children living in the MACODEP children’s home & centre, the Got Osimbo project aims to provide comprehensive services for the children in a safer area. Located in Northen Ugenya, Siaya County, the location was chosen because many of the children at the current home originally come from Western Kenya, especially Siaya County.
The Makina Clinic
As of 2015, MACODEP’s clinic serves between 60 and 100 people per day. The clinic provides patients with everything from health consultations to writing prescriptions to delivering babies when there is no time for a woman to make it to a hospital! Other services include a small pharmacy for patients and a separate room for laboratory services. MACODEP also has the ability to test patients for ailments such as HIV and typhoid, common problems in the Kibra community.
